Rain......

Another image of Rain which yet again shows her natural beauty. This image has been entered into a competition sponsored by Habitat for Horses. The competition hopes to highlight the beauty of rescue horses, to change perceptions, and I think it's easily seen here with Rain. You can vote on my image - the most votes denotes the final winning image - by logging on to - http://www.competico.com/profile/Suesy?contest=cpt9500 it's free to vote and the winner can donate to the charity of their choice, mine obviously being Throwaway Ponies where Rain resides along with 29 other horses in their care. I hope you have time to check out the link and vote....Thanks in advance, Sues!

Throwaway Ponies Horse Rescue

As part of a project I am working on, I am involved with Throwaway Ponies Horse rescue. Here's a couple of images from a day last week spent getting to know some of the 29 (soon to be 30) horses there.

On Tuesday I am going along to help 'rescue' another horse that is lame and can no longer be ridden, otherwise he is in very good health, just looking for a place to retire!

The two pics are of "Rain' and 'Duchess'. I just couldn't get over how beautiful Rain was, that lovely highlighted mane and those almond shaped eyes, she just melted my heart. Duchess on the other hand just broke it, another pic I took simply looked like she had a tear in her eye, I decided to post this one instead, which shows her natural beauty and grace.........................

The Friesian

I so enjoyed my weekend photographing at the SCFHA & FHANA AGM. I've learned that some of my shots will be used in the magazine and on both web sites!
Above are some of my favourite shots from the weekend, along with the earlier post of Titan. I just love Friesians, they are so magical in their movements, so powerful, yet so gentle and so, very, very photogenic!
I've also been talking with A at her ranch, she has many horses including Friesians. She has asked would I be interested in photoshoots for cards, calendars etc..........sounds so very interesting. More on this as it develops :o)
I eventually got my copy of DSLRUser mag (March issue) in which I featured. This was very exciting and I couldn't believe it when I saw that I had a full page image in it! The comments on my image were great, and I am so grateful for the opportunity to have been included in the feature. Thanks everyone.

Head Study

Here's another study I've been working on. I'm hoping it concentrates on the essence of a horse, being quite abstract an image again.

I have now joined the EPN - Equine Photographers Network and also the SCFHA - the South Central Friesian Horse Association for whom I will be doing two days work covering the forthcoming AGM that they are holding here at a nearby castle for FHANA - Friesian Horse Association of North America. I was so pleased to be asked and I'm looking forward to it!

Also, I just heard that one of my images is currently in the latest issue of DSLR User magazine? This is wonderful news as I am a member on their website (www.DSLRUser.co.uk) and love it as the feedback rec'vd on any images you post is very constructive.

I have also joined the Rockwall Art League, and have submitted some images for an upcoming exhibition in a local coffeehouse, namely Texas Roast. This should be fun as I will get to meet some more new people within this diverse group of artists. I'll post more info on this soon.

Tomorrow I plan on doing some flower shots as I have just bought a lovely bunch that are simply begging to be photographed!

Ice Storm

It's not always sunny here in Texas! Last week's ice storm.

Black Beauty

Happy New Year to everyone!
I've added this image as I've worked further over the holidays on creating some Fine Art equine images.
I have planned a session with a breeder of Tennessee Walking horses, here near Dallas, which I'm very excited about. Connie seems as enthusiastic as me, so this should be a fun session. She also has Papillons she wants photographed, these little fellas are likely to steal my heart!! Hopefully there will be no pups available!!
I also have a trip planned to Coyote Creek Ranch about 100 miles away to photograph some Friesian horses that they have there. I stumbled upon Ann and her horses whilst researching Friesians on the web. They are beautifully 'sculpted' horses and I was looking for someone obliging enough to let me photograph some as soon as possible, Ann agreed. I may even try sketching some, something I have not done for sometime! The video link on the CCR web site shows Royal Prince Amedeo, and if you take a look, you'll see that he truly is a striking stallion, very photogenic. I can't wait to get there and meet everyone.
Sues.
